An example of adaptation to change and development was at the Royal Marsden Hospital. The Royal Marsden is a world-leading cancer centre specializing in cancer diagnosis, treatment, research and education.
The hospital had to apply changes to its computer room which had become aged and was in need of up-grading to increase efficiency with system loss reductions.

One of the stipulations we had during the install was the allocation of space. The space in the battery room was limited, therefore 12 years design life, front access sealed lead acid batteries were used to provide 20 minutes autonomy for each UPS at full load or 50 minutes at half load. Batteries are located on open racks within a dedicated battery room.
